This helmet is the result of an assignment in which we were tasked with designing and creating prototypes of a wearable item. I chose to focus on the construction industry and aimed to assist workers who spent long hours under the summer sun. I took an industry standard construction helmet and modelled and 3D printed enclosures to fit the helmet on its sides. In these enclosures, I wired fans connected to battery packs and a power switches to assemble a working prototype. I was able to showcase this product in a school-wide design show. This allowed me to gather feedback from individuals who were in the construction industry, and they expressed their interest in the concept.
Design study exploring multiple ways to achieve my goal.
Renders showcasing the final design.
Context render of an individual wearing the helmet.
